Breast Ultrasound in Canberra

A breast ultrasound is used to investigate a breast lump, area of tenderness, or change noticed by you or your doctor, and is often used alongside other breast imaging. It's a safe, radiation-free examination carried out with care in a private setting.

Preparation: No preparation is required for this scan. Eat, drink and take your medications as usual.

What to expect: Your sonographer will explain the examination and ensure you're comfortable. Warm gel is applied and a small probe is moved over the breast and, if needed, the armpit area. The scan is painless and usually takes 20โ€“30 minutes.

Billing: We are a mixed-billing practice and will explain the total cost, your Medicare rebate and any out-of-pocket expense before the scan.
