We use the latest Philips Epiq Elite Elevate state-of-the-art ultrasound technology to deliver exceptional image quality for the most accurate diagnosis.
Before your scan, it is important to follow preparation instructions to achieve the best results/diagnosis.
Please wear loose 2 piece clothing.

To be comfortable for your scan, there are a few things you should know:
Ultrasound scans use high frequency sound waves to create real-time images of internal body structures. It is a safe, non-invasive imaging procedure.
There may be preparation required for your scan. This will be explained in detail after you book. For instance, you may be required to fast, or drink water to fill your bladder before the scan.
It is recommended that you wear comfortable and loose 2-piece clothing.
The total visit time can range from 15 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the scan.

You can discuss the above with a call to our lovely receptionist or book in online and have this information displayed after booking.

Katrina brings over 35 years of sonography experience to the practice. Her depth of clinical expertise, paired with a calm and reassuring presence has made her a trusted name in Ultrasound with experience working in the UK, Sydney, Regional and Remote NSW, ACT, and with First Nations communities in the Northern Territory. She has a background in Radiography and holds a Master of Applied Science- Medical Ultrasound.

Before joining the team, Alex spent six years as a social worker supporting older people and also holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Ultrasound refers to the use of high frequency sound waves to produce images of internal organs and structures in real time. It is a safe, generally painless medical test which helps to diagnose and monitor various health conditions.
Ultrasound does not use ionizing radiation to produce images.

A sonographer is a university qualified healthcare professional who operates ultrasound equipment to create images of structures and organs inside your body.
A qualified sonographer must be registered by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry.

Your sonographer will explain the ultrasound scan procedure to you. They will take a detailed history from you concerning your referral. They will always ask if you have any questions and ask for your consent before starting the examination.
Clear water based gel is applied to the area being examined. The scan is generally painless, though there may be mild pressure or slight discomfort over the tender area. You may be asked to hold your breath, or change position. This all helps to acquire clear images.
Most scans take between 15 and 45 minutes.
Your results will be reviewed by a radiologist and a report sent to your referring doctor.

Woden Ultrasound is a mixed-billing practice.
We bulk bill most scans for Pensioner Concession Card holders, with a valid referral and Medicare card.
For all other patients the cost depends on the type of scan, and we'll inform you of the total cost, your Medicare rebate and any out-of-pocket expense before your scan.

Medicare Card- necessary for Medicare procedures and reimbursements.
Referral form- this is essential for conducting the scan and may be uploaded by you at time of booking. We accept all referral forms.
Any previous relevant medical imaging or reports as this will allow thorough comparison and information for the radiologist to provide the most accurate report to your medical practitioner.

We strive to accommodate most scans on the same day. Please call our friendly reception staff for options regarding urgent scans.
We attempt to accommodate any walk-in request with minimum wait times.

This depends on the urgency of the ultrasound scan. Usually for urgent scans your referrer will be contacted within 4 hours.
For all other scans results will be forwarded to your medical practitioner within 24-48 hours.

Your images are sent to you via a text message to your registered mobile with a link to your relevant scans.

Securely via HealthLink, directly into your referring doctor's practice software.
This organisation has been granted an extension of time to upload diagnostic imaging reports and/or pathology reports to My Health Record. During this extension period, diagnostic imaging reports provided by this organisation will not be uploaded to My Health Record.
