Thyroid & Neck Ultrasound in Canberra

A thyroid and neck ultrasound provides a detailed look at the thyroid gland and the structures of the neck, including lymph nodes. It's commonly used to investigate a thyroid nodule, a lump in the neck, or changes picked up by your doctor on examination.

Preparation: No preparation is needed. Eat, drink and take your medications as usual. It helps to wear a top that leaves the neck easily accessible.

What to expect: You'll lie back with your neck gently supported. Warm gel is applied and a small probe is moved over the front of your neck. The scan is painless and usually takes 15–20 minutes.

Billing: We are a mixed-billing practice and will explain the total cost, your Medicare rebate and any out-of-pocket expense before your scan.
